What's What it is:

This is just a no-frills GUI wrapper for the Unix "whatis" command, which tries to find a one-line description of a command if one is available. The output window continues to add results to queries unless you clear it.

Comments about writing this:

Once I got used to using NSTask, NSPipe and NSFileHandle, Unix wrapper programs started oozing out.

Tools used in its creation:

• Project Builder / Interface Builder (comes free with OS X)
• Cocoa Browser (free) to quickly look up all things Cocoa
• Toy Viewer (free) to convert images to jpegs
• Iconographer (shareware) for help making the icon
• and DropCompress (free) to create the download images
